Simon will discuss prospects for the future of the US/Israel alliance, beginning with Israel’s founding in 1948 and following the Six-Day War in 1967. He will focus on changes in both Israel and the Arab world in light of current developments in the US, Israel and the larger Middle East.

Steven Simon was formerly a National Security Council staff member and is the author of numerous books and articles on American foreign policy and Middle East politics. He also served as Senior Director for Middle Eastern and North American affairs at the White House from 2011 through 2012. He applies his extensive expertise on national security and terrorism as Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS-US) and Director of IISS-Middle East. He is a Visiting Professor of History at Amherst College.
