Resources for Sexual Assault Survivors
ALIVE – Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments
ALIVE provides counseling, emergency sanctuary, and other critical services to adults and children impacted by domestic abuse.
Bridgeway
Bridgeway’s Sexual Assault Center is the only rape crisis center in St. Charles County. They serve a combination of rural, suburban, and urban areas within the Greater St. Louis Area and its outlying counties. Bridgeway is the only multi-service agency in the region which provides services to sexual violence and domestic abuse victims as well as treating substance abuse and other addictive disorders. This is important because they have identified that a majority of women seeking treatment for addictive disorders at any given time are or have been victims of battery and/or sexual abuse. Their crisis line is available 24/7 for those needing assistance. All services are offered free of charge and the length of service is not restricted but based solely on the needs of the clients. Clients have an advantage when receiving services at Bridgeway because they can identify and treat many of the disorders and illnesses that come from trauma related events. Their referral services to partners within the community can assist clients in finding resources for housing, nutrition, education, and employment.
Crime Victim Advocacy Center
Crime hurts – physically, financially, and psychologically – for weeks, months, and even years after the crime occurs. Personal injuries and financial burdens are often compounded by unexpected emotional turmoil affecting all aspects of a person’s life. The Crime Victim Center of St. Louis (CVC) is here to listen and help. They provide resources, counseling, advocacy, and referral for thousands of victims of crime and their families.
Kathy J. Weinman Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence
