7:30 pm  Kabbalat Shabbat: Lifting Our Lamps – Lessons Learned from Jewish Texts & Immigration Experiences
Reb Arthur will speak about immigration and refugee status from a Jewish textual and historical perspective. Reb Arthur and Reb Phyllis will share their experiences as activists for asylum seekers on the border and at home in Philadelphia.

12:30 pm  Lunch and Learn: Adventures in Jewish Renewal
Reb Arthur will lead Torah study with a novel approach, and Reb Phyllis will speak about bringing Jewish spirituality to significant life moments that are not (yet) commonly ritualized. Please RSVP to jen@centralreform.org or 314-361-3919 by September 12.

1-3 pm  Multi-Traditional/Interfaith Gathering: Beyond the Climate Crisis: From the Failure of Eden to Eden Once Again
Friends from all walks of life are invited to this event. Rabbi Waskow, a prolific activist, author, and speaker on the topic, will address climate change and the challenges to our planet from a progressive faith perspective. The program will also include music and other speakers from a variety of vibrant communities.

Rabbi Arthur Waskow, Ph.D., is the founding director of The Shalom Center and co-founded ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. Among his books are Down-to-Earth Judaism: Food, Money, Sex, and the Rest of Life. He is also the editor of Torah of the Earth: 4,000 Years of Jewish Thought on Ecology.

Rabbi Phyllis O. Berman is the founding director of the Riverside Language Program, a unique school in New York City for teaching English language and American culture to new immigrants and refugees. She is a leading Jewish Renewal liturgist, author, and storyteller. Rabbis Waskow and Berman are co-authors of Tales of Tikkun: New Jewish Stories to Heal the Wounded World, A Time for Every Purpose under Heaven: The Jewish Life-Spiral as a Spiritual Journey.
