As we mourn with the world over the unconscionable deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, we are called yet again to name, condemn, and do our part to end systemic racism. On the week of Juneteenth, YPD and the JCRC are inviting you to take part in learning about one of the many forms of systemic racism: mass incarceration. Please watch Ava Duvernay’s 13th, “a documentary that explores racial inequality in the United States, focusing on the fact that the nation’s prisons are disproportionately filled with African Americans.” The movie can be found on Netflix and YouTube.
