Art in Peril: The Story of Degenerate Art – Bill Sitzer (free & in person)

In observance of Yom HaShoah – a day dedicated to remembering Holocaust victims – Saint Louis Art Museum docent Bill Sitzer will lead us through the historical significance of Degenerate Art, a powerful propaganda tool used by the National Socialist (Nazi) party under Adolf Hitler’s regime. Discover how the Nazis weaponized the concept to degrade, humiliate, and shame modern and other art, especially targeting the works of Jewish artists. This policy restricted artistic expression to only those artists and ideas that aligned with Hitler’s vision of a “pure German race.” No cost to register, but RSVP required.
