Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis will host an evening of celebration, community and giving featuring Linor Abargil. The event, L’Chaim! Women Changing the World, will take place on Thursday, November 1, at The Ritz-Carlton St. Louis beginning with a reception at 6:15 pm. Dinner and a formal program will follow at 7 pm. Guests may also purchase a special ticket for “Starting Strong with Linor,” the VIP Pre-Event from 5:15-6:30 pm to meet Linor Abargil.

The only Israeli to be crowned Miss World, Linor Abargil is an actress, model, attorney, and global advocate in the fight against sexual violence. Just seven weeks before being crowned Miss World in 1998, the then 18-year-old Abargil was sexually assaulted in Milan, Italy. For Linor, the crown had a purpose and she used this platform to advocate against sexual violence. In 2008, she launched BraveMissWorld.com and started speaking out about sexual violence.

In 2013, “Brave Miss World,” a documentary film about Linor, the assault and subsequent activism was released, earning an Emmy nomination. In the film, Linor documents her journey and tells her story, without shame, as she reaches out to other women around the world, encouraging them to tell theirs. Linor shares an inspiring message of how women are strong, can speak up and change the world!

Visit JFedSTL.org/L’Chaim2018 to register by October 26. L’Chaim! Women Changing the World tickets are $65 each; “Starting Strong with Linor” VIP Pre-Event tickets are $180 each and include one ticket to L’Chaim! Women Changing the World.
