I write to share with you the news that Dr. Stephen Cohen will be retiring from the Jewish Federation of St. Louis at the end of 2018, completing 25 years of leadership of and service to our community. Stephen will step down from his role as Vice President of Planning & Allocations at the end of 2017 when he will take on the role of Vice President of Special Projects. In this new role, Stephen will continue to lend his expertise to many important initiatives, including our Israel & Overseas work, and he will help our organization implement our new Strategic Plan.

As Stephen so aptly put it, “As the Federation implements the Strategic Plan, the entire way that the P&A function works will need to be re-imagined and redesigned. It makes sense that the people who will implement those processes be part of the design of them. Now is the right time for me to take on a different role, and I am grateful to be able to continue to serve.”

Stephen has approached his impending retirement from Federation the same way that he approached his many years of service – with grace, charm, humor and humility. We will have many more opportunities to congratulate and thank Stephen during the upcoming year. At this time, please join me in wishing Stephen all the best.
