The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders connects students with employment and the local Jewish community.
Jewish Federation of St. Louis has launched its fourth year of a unique summer internship program that combines meaningful employment and a community connection experience for students who either live or study in St. Louis. Ten interns have been selected for The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders; a nine-week paid summer opportunity that will provide employment at a local business or non-profit organization, a community mentor and opportunities for students to engage with the local Jewish community as part of a special cohort.
The 2017 Interns are:
Isabelle Appleton is a rising Junior at Vasar College studying religion. Isabelle will be working at the St. Louis Chapter of The National Council of Jewish Women with Executive Director, Ellen Alper. The National Council of Jewish Women is a volunteer organization that has been at the forefront of social change for over a century — championing the needs of women, children, and families — while courageously taking a progressive stance on such issues as child welfare, women’s rights, and reproductive freedom.
Noah Bardash is a rising Senior at Washington University in St. Louis studying Systems Engineering. Noah will be working at DEMA Engineering this summer on a variety of processes and lab work. DEMA is a leading supplier of chemical dispensing systems, fluid control devices and industrial solenoid valves, strainers, pumps and injectors for virtually any industrial, institutional and professional market.
Nathaniel Bernstein is a rising Junior at Washington University in St. Louis studying Political Science. Nathaniel will be working at Missouri Jobs with Justice and will take leadership in organizing Labor in the Pulpits, a state-wide day focused on celebrating the sacredness of work and continuing the push for greater workers’ rights. Jobs with Justice is an action-oriented organization focused on fighting for economic and social justice as it relates to workers’ rights.
Mordechai Cohen is a rising Junior at Yeshiva University studying Accounting. Mordechai will be working at Metal Exchange Corporation on corporate financial reports, accounting projects and data validation for new software. Metal Exchange Corporation is a commodity trading and manufacturing corporation which focuses on aluminum and nonferrous metals. Headquartered in St. Louis, Metal Exchange Corporation has several manufacturing facilities in the United States and sales offices throughout the United States and in Shanghai and Zurich.
Joshua Felsher is a rising Junior at University of Michigan studying Economics and History. Joshua will be working at Decipher Global planning and executing a research project. Decipher is an independent corporate intelligence provider which assists firms with reducing the risk of a ‘bad’ executive level hire.
Noah Fishman is a rising Senior at Yeshiva University studying Accounting. Noah will be working at Zoltek Corporation which engages in the development, manufacture and marketing of carbon fiber for various applications.
Joshua Goodman is a rising Junior at University of Missouri studying Journalism. Joshua will be working for Canopy Biosciences in the area of marketing, developing design specifications, messaging, and marketing plans. Canopy Biosciences specializes in tools and services for genetic engineering, molecular biology and personalized medicine.
Jonathan Koralnik is a rising Junior at Washington University in St. Louis studying Anthropology and Leadership/Strategic Management. Jonathan will be working at Warehouse of Fixtures and will be focusing on mapping the Warehouse of Fixtures workflow, conducting consumer research on office furniture and developing marketing strategies. Warehouse of Fixtures sells new and pre-owned office furniture to both businesses and consumers.
Ryan Lutker a rising Junior at Bradley University studying Elementary Education. Ryan will be working at B’nai Amoona Congregation this summer as a senior staff member at Camp Ramot Amoona. Ryan will be part of the camp management team. He will supervise other staff members at the camp, help guide day-to-day operations, as well as strategize and plan future programming. Camp Ramot Amoona is open to students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Hannah Snidman is a rising Junior at Bradley University studying Psychology. Hannah will be working at the Magic House interviewing visitors for an annual survey of visitors and other projects designed to improve the visitor experience. The Magic House is a not-for-profit children’s museum that engages in hands-on learning experiences that encourage experimentation, creativity and the development of problem-solving skills within a place of beauty, wonder, joy and magic.
In addition to the internship, each student will be paired with a mentor in the community who will help guide them throughout the internship experience. Finally, all participants will engage in a series of leadership development sessions to help hone skills in areas such as networking, communication, leadership styles and more.
