Six Israeli educators from our partnership region of Yokneam-Megiddo

Six Israeli educators from our partnership region of Yokneam-Megiddo traveled to St. Louis to learn about our Jewish community, their partner schools, educational practices, traditions and culture. Israeli educator Rinat Cohen of Plagim School, Megiddo, and teachers from Temple Emanuel help students with a project about the Israeli artist Hanoch Piven, who creates portraits through everyday objects. Students are using his technique to create their own self-portraits to send to their Israeli counterparts at Plagim School.

Liora Gur speaks to Shaare Emeth students and teachers about science projects her students at Oranim School, Yokneam, are working on back in Israel. Yokneam was the first “green” city in Israel, and students are very involved in issues of sustainability.

These schools are partnered up for Kesher B’Kitah, a classroom connection project between St. Louis congregational religious and day schools and Yokneam-Megiddo elementary and high schools.
