Q Jews, a grassroots organization that was started in 2011 to create a safe space for engagement and empowerment of LGBTQ Jews in St. Louis, is hosting a Drag Show on February 7. The organization previously received an Innovation Grant from Jewish Federation of St. Louis to encourage growth and help Q Jews become more established.
Designed to tap the creativity that exists beyond Jewish community congregations, agencies and organizations, the Innovation Grants were available to individuals or groups of individuals who live in St. Louis. Additionally, Jewish Federation of St. Louis provides support through mentor connections, publicity and marketing efforts, peer consultations and brainstorming sessions, and strategic planning consultation.
The Drag Show will take place at Blank Space, 2847 Cherokee Street, St. Louis, MO; doors open at 8 pm. Proceeds will benefit Q Jews and Metro Trans Umbrella Group. All are welcome to attend this special event. The Drag Show will be the largest event that Q Jews have ever held, with an anticipated attendance of over 150 people. Events like these work to increase the visibility of the LGBT Jewish Community and ultimately elevate the status of the entire community.
Q Jews provides a community for anyone identifying as Jewish and on the spectrum of LGBTQ. This social group aims to have fun while creating dynamic programs and meaningful dialogue within the community. The organization also recently received a grant from the Kranzberg Family Foundation to help further their mission.
