The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders connects students with employment and the local Jewish community
Jewish Federation of St. Louis has launched a summer internship program that will combine meaningful employment and a community connection experience for students who either live or study in St. Louis. Applications are being accepted online for The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders; an eight-week paid summer opportunity that will provide employment at a local business or non-profit organization, a community mentor and opportunities for students to engage with the local Jewish community as part of a special cohort.
“The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders is Federation’s effort to connect local companies with qualified interns, while encouraging students to engage in the local Jewish community,” said Nate Rosenblum, Senior Associate of Community Development at Jewish Federation of St Louis and coordinator of the program. “As we strive to attract young adults to our city, this program will help retain those who are invested in our community and interested in participating in Jewish life in St. Louis.”
To be considered for The Internship Experience for Future Community Leaders, students must:
- Attend college in St. Louis or live in St. Louis and attend college elsewhere;
- Be entering their Junior or Senior year of college in Fall 2015;
- Be available Monday through Friday, June 1 – July 31, 2015;
- Be Jewish or interested in the St. Louis Jewish community;
- Have access to transportation
A matching process will occur with selected individuals and organizations to determine the specific internship site based on mutual interests and goals for the summer. In addition, each student will be paired with a mentor in the community who will help guide them throughout the internship experience. Finally, all participants will engage in a series of leadership development sessions to help hone skills in areas such as networking, communication, leadership styles and more.
Applications are being accepted now through January 15, 2015 at JFedSTL.org/the-internship-experience. Additionally, Federation is seeking local businesses or non-profit organization to participate in the program. For more information, contact Nate Rosenblum at NRosenblum@JFedSTL.org or 314-442-3726.
