It certainly was an accomplishment to make it to the top of Masada. The rich history of Masada and learning about its history at the top was certainly worth the climb up it. We’ve heard of the history of Masada, but it definitely was eye opening of the vast fortress it actually was in its day.
Hearing about The Dead Sea and seeing pictures of it does not do it justice. What a beautiful sight! As someone who has never been able to float in water, I certainly was skeptical to how easy it would be. It was obviously easy to float, but the serenity of the Dead Sea was quite apparent.
Touring the desert in jeeps was an experience that should go in the history books. The landscape and views were certainly breathtaking. Learning about and seeing the mountain made of salt was fascinating. We even all fit in a cave in the salt mountain. It was definitely cool experience in every sense of the word.
The last event of the day consisted of camel riding through the desert, learning about Bedouin life in the desert and eating in a Bedouin tent. We mounted the camels like we had been riding them all of our lives. We laughed throughout the whole ride and just had a great time together. We then learned about how Bedouins lived in the past and now. Everyone was quite fascinating with this culture that is so different and interesting. Eating dinner Bedouin style certainly topped off the experience.
