Sherry Shuman’s philanthropy was inspired by her father. “We were not well off when I was young, but my father was always socially active,” says Shuman. As Shuman’s circumstances improved, she continued to be involved with helping others.

Now the co-chair of Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy and a volunteer at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry, Shuman continues to reach out to others in need. “I am inspired to work for Women’s Philanthropy because I believe you have to have a goal and work hard to achieve it,” she says. Women’s Philanthropy’s goal to connect  community and inspire social good fits in well with Sherry’s legacy of giving back through volunteering and donating.
