Recognizes outstanding professional leaders in local Jewish community

Jewish Federation of St. Louis is seeking nominations for the 2013 Fred A. Goldstein Memorial Service Award, which recognizes outstanding professional leadership. The award has been given annually since 1965.

Nominees must be employed by a St. Louis Jewish organization and currently working in a direct service, professional or managerial role. Nominations should reflect individuals who excel in their field, have a significant track record over time, have introduced important innovations, and are perceived as role models by other professionals and volunteers. In general, the award is intended to honor continued excellence and is not intended as a reward for longevity or as a thank you for professionals who are retiring, relocating or leaving the field.

Last year’s honoree was Rabbi Michael Rovinsky (JSU). Past recipients currently working in the local Jewish community include Sonia Dobinsky (CAJE), Lori Wishne (Federation), Daniel Reich (Holocaust Museum), Rabbi Hyim Shafner (Bais Abraham), Maxine Weil (CAJE), Joan Wolchansky (CAJE), Batya Abramson-Goldstein (JCRC), Nikki Goldstein (Crown Center), Marci Mayer Eisen (Federation), Barbara Raznick (Brodsky Library), Stephen Cohen (Federation), and Evelyn Young (JF&CS).

Nominations (in the form of letters of recommendation) are invited from the entire Jewish community. The committee reviewing nominations include representatives from the Jewish Federation Board of Directors, the presidents of the Rabbinical Association and Rabbinical Council, and past award recipients. Deadline for nominations is August 5, 2013.

Letters of recommendation should be sent to Marci Mayer Eisen, director, Millstone Institute for Jewish Leadership, 12 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146 or emailed to meisen@jfedstl.org. For questions, contact Marci at (314) 442-3810.
