On January 22, 2013, Jewish Federation of St. Louis welcomed Gideon Herscher, Executive Director of International Development and Crisis Relief at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). Herscher gave a presentation on the JDC’s programs and partnerships for vulnerable populations in Israel and across the globe, including the former Soviet Union, post-earthquake Haiti, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
A portion of Federation’s core Israel and overseas allocation goes to the JDC. JDC is the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization, impacting millions of lives in more than 70 countries today and confronting poverty and crisis around the world.
