Each year participants are required to contribute at least $18 to their fund. Annually, participants will be notified that it is time to choose the charity they would like to make an allocation towards. Participants can make as many allocations as they would like as long as each distribution is to a 501c3 organization and it is at least $18. Participants must maintain a minimum balance of $100 in the fund. When participants reach the age of 20, if their balance is at least $500 their fund will automatically become a Donor Advised Fund. If the fund does not have a $500 balance at that time, participants will have a year to bring the balance up to $500 to convert into a Donor Advised Fund OR participants must close their account by allocating the remaining funds to a charity. If participants choose to stop participating in the program before the age of 20, the fund will be considered a donation and the original funds granted from the Kranzberg Family Foundation will go back to fund another teen.
