Get a sneak peek at Upstream Theater’s bold new production, The End of the World Cabaret, running April 17 through May 3. This lively, genre‑bending work is a new adaptation of the 1936 futuristic satire Weltuntergang by Austrian playwright Jura Soyfer. Blending sharp satire, social commentary, music, and humor, the play imagines a cosmic system out of balance — and it appears humans are to blame. As a result, a comet is sent toward Earth, whose inhabitants respond with political misgivings, self-sabotage, doubt, avoidance, and inaction. Yet upon closer inspection, humanity’s profound beauty and resilience shine through, suggesting the world — and its people — may still be worth saving.

During this Mirowitz Center preview, performers will share select scenes and musical numbers, discuss Soyfer’s life and the adaptation process, and take part in a conversation with the audience. Plus, attendees will enjoy an exclusive discount on Upstream Theater tickets to see the full production of The End of the World Cabaret.
