Mirowitz Center (directions)
A special three-part series hosted by the Mirowitz Center, featuring Elana Kaplan, an independent museum educator and lecturer. In January, shake off the winter chill with Elana – a former St. Louisan and an educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 25 years – by looking at period rooms and cozy furniture in The Met’s American Wing, currently commemorating its 100th anniversary. Learn about the designers as well as the owners, and how they’re all connected to our nation’s history and the American experience. View in person at the Mirowitz Center (live-streamed) or watch from home via Zoom. Part 2 of 3; attend both remaining sessions, or just one. Next Month 11 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (Part 3 of 3) “Modern Storytellers: Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, and Faith Ringgold” In honor of Black History Month, Elana Kaplan covers three influential African-American storytellers. Celebrate how these artists, who all grew up or trained or lived at various points in their lives in Harlem, participated in the community in important ways, with significant messages, inclusive sources of inspiration and exuberant expression. No cost to register, but RSVP required. Please use link below to register online or email program@mirowitzcenter.org or call 314-733-9813.
