Jews of Ethiopia: History, Resilience, and the Road Ahead

Organizer(s): Mirowitz Center (email)
Wed, April 15, 2026
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Mirowitz Center (directions)

While many people are aware of the Ethiopian Jews who made “aliyah” (immigrated to Israel), they may be surprised to learn that a vibrant Jewish community still exists in Ethiopia. Join former St. Louisan Sigrid Levi-Baum at the Mirowitz Center to explore their history, traditions, and religious practices, as well as the challenges they continue to face living in their Ethiopian homeland. She will also share how organizations like Meketa USA, which she helped found after her first visit to Ethiopia in 2017, support the resilience and faith of this ancient Jewish community. No cost to register, but RSVP required.
