Central Reform Congregation (CRC) and MaTovu co-present Duo Andalus, vocalist Lala Tamar and guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Ofer Ronen, as the CRC Artist in Residence. Duo Andalus brings together the music of Andalusia, the Sephardic diaspora and the Middle East, singing in Darija (Moroccan Arabic), Spanish, Amazigh and Hebrew. Lala Tamar is the first artist to record a contemporary album in Haquetia, the endangered dialect of the Jews of northern Morocco; Ofer Ronen is a flamenco guitarist, arranger and multi-instrumentalist based in Barcelona.
Come early. Soon after doors open, DG Mando (CRC mandolinist and composer David Goldenberg and friends) gets the night going, and Brothers Lazaroff join them for a brief acoustic warm-up before turning the evening over to Duo Andalus.
Doors 6:00 p.m., show 7:00 p.m. Tickets $36. Seating is limited to 90.
