Laura Press Millner
St. Louis NORC Activities Coordinator
Laura Press Millner’s career in social work has spanned 25 years in the St. Louis non-profit arena. For the past 15 years, Laura has been dedicated to the elderly population surrounding the Jewish Community Center. She has committed herself to St. Louis NORC’s mission of “connecting neighbors and enriching lives.” As the Activity Coordinator, Laura seeks out exiting cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities for seniors to enjoy. Local bus trips, health and wellness presentations, and musical entertainment give seniors a menu of options for involvement. Laura pays particular attention to what is “new and happening” in the St. Louis community to keep seniors in the know. She plans and implements programming for large and small groups alike, aiming to engage and refresh the minds and hearts of the NORC members. Other roles in the Jewish community have included Outreach Coordinator for the J’s senior programming. Laura also serves frail, cognitively challenged adults and their families as a social worker with the J’s Adult Day Services program. Throughout her 15 years of community service, Laura has served as a passionate advocate for seniors and quality, senior living. Prior to the Jewish community, Laura assisted troubled youth of St. Louis city and county. She collaborated with various community leaders, educational institutions and public service organizations working together towards empowering youth to success. She orientated, interviewed, trained and assisted hundreds of parents, children and volunteers in 10 years of service. Outside interests include her family, antiquing, history, running, gardening, baseball and volunteering time to coaching girls youth softball. Expect to see Laura out and about enjoying all St. Louis has to offer.
