Jewish Federation of St. Louis, in conjunction with local synagogues and other Jewish organizations, launched a study of the St. Louis area’s Jewish community in 2014 to determine its size, geographic distribution, socioeconomic, religious and cultural attributes. The Study was released in February 2015. The St. Louis Jewish Community Study is used to inform community planning, allocations and programming efforts for Jewish agencies and organizations.

About the Study
The St. Louis Jewish Community Study is funded in part by a generous gift from Terry and Harvey Hieken. Additional support has been provided by the Lubin-Green Foundation, the Morton J. and Morton D. May Fund of the Greater St. Louis Community Foundation, two anonymous donors, and community donors like you.
The study was conducted by Jewish Policy & Action Research (JPAR), an independent agency that is a strategic alliance between Ukeles Associates, Inc and Social Science Research Solutions. JPAR’s researchers include Professor Steven M. Cohen, Dr. Jacob B. Ukeles, Dr. Ron Miller, Dr. Susan Sherr and Dr. David Dutwin, and it has conducted 20 previous studies of Jewish communities in the United States.
Les Sterman, who served for 26 years as executive director of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, the region’s chief planning body, chaired the Community Study Advisory Committee.
