Beginning in 1942\, silk escape maps were standard issue to all U. S. Air Force servicemen. Hear the story and view the map given to Charles Abbott\, a prisoner of war who utilized this important fabric to survive. Participants will then create a personalized textile “map” of St. Louis. \n\n\n\nThis program complements the Stitching History from the Holocaust exhibit and invites reflection through craft. No embroidery experience needed. All materials provided.
