Opening Program for Untold Sacrifices: The St. Louis Jewish Community in the Great War

The exhibit, Untold Sacrifices: The St. Louis Jewish Community in the Great War, will be presented by the St. Louis Jewish Community Archives from Sunday, November 5-December 31, 2017 at The J’s Staenberg Family Complex, Fitness & Wellness Building. This exhibition honors those in the St. Louis Jewish community who served abroad, for both the Allies and the Central Powers, and on the home front during WWI. Whether they fought in the Western Front trenches or in Palestine, helped raise funds through the United War Work Campaign or were part of the medical corps, they all played a role in the “War to End All Wars.”

An opening program will be held on Sunday, November 5 from 1:30-3:30pm at The J’s Staenberg Family Complex, Fitness & Wellness Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146.  “’Prejudice is a Worse Foe to American Democracy than any Kaiser’: The Jewish Experience in St. Louis during World War I” will be the topic of a lecture by Dr. Petra DeWitt, Missouri University of Science & Technology.
