SUMMARY:Tears and Dancing: Jewish Writers on Ukraine and Ukrainians
DESCRIPTION:In this talk Prof. Horowitz will look at a few texts in which Jewish authors (poets\, prose writers\, historians\, and philosophers) depict Ukraine and Ukrainians primarily from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century. Some writers see an enemy\, while others have a more nuanced perspective. Many Jews describe Ukraine positively as a home for Jews\, a provider of the good life.
