Professor Schwartz will discuss and read sections from his newly published book, A Palace of Pearls: The Stories of Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav (2018). With utmost reverence and unfettered delight, Schwartz has carefully curated A Palace of Pearls alongside masterful commentary that guides the reader through Rabbi Nachman’s spiritual mysticism and uniquely Kabbalistic approach. Vibrant, wise, and provocative, this book is a must-read for any lover of fairy tales and fables.
As a tribute to her father, Howard’s daughter, Miriam, will present at brief musical tribute featuring one of the beautiful niggun of Rabbi Nachman. A light reception will follow.

Dr. Howard Schwartz is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and an internationally celebrated and award-winning writer and poet. He won the National Jewish Book Award three times and was also a winner of the Koret Jewish Book Award. He has written and edited dozens of works in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
