Sandy Koufax: Left Arm of God – Journalist Benjamin Hochman (free & in person)
Sandy Koufax – affectionately known for his “Left Arm of God” – played 12 seasons for the Dodgers (Brooklyn and Los Angeles) and is universally recognized as one of Major League Baseball’s all-time greatest pitchers. According to Sports Illustrated, Koufax was “the kind of man boys idolized, men envied, women swooned over and rabbis thanked, especially when he refused to pitch Game 1 of the 1965 World Series because it fell on Yom Kippur.” Come hear St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist, Benjamin Hochman, celebrate the life and career of this intensely private athlete, who has impacted others through his many lessons of generosity, humility and invaluable pitching wisdom.
Myron Holtzman, former St. Louis Globe-Democrat sports editor and current St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame PR director, will introduce our guest speaker. No cost to register, but RSVP required. Program is provided with FEL (Friends Enjoying Life), the Mirowitz Center men’s organization.
