Miraim Hebrew School c. 1940’s

Founded in 1989, the St. Louis Jewish Community Archives acquires, preserves and makes accessible to researchers materials on Jewish life in the St. Louis area. The Archives includes more than 200 unique collections (1820s-present day), housed in the Brodsky Library.

Among the Archive’s holdings are the Marcus Bernheimer Collection (1864-1968), the Gilbert Harris Collection (1911-1976), the Cook Carriage Company (1897-1904), the Will Levy Architectural Drawings Collection (1894-1955), the Jewish Community Relations Council Collection (1938-2016), the Jewish Federation of St. Louis Collection (1902-2016) and the YMHA/JCCA Collection (1891-2015). These are only a sample of the many aspects of Jewish personal, commercial, professional, or cultural lives and relationships in Jewish families and neighborhoods as well as in the greater St. Louis community.

The Archives is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information about the historical collections, to use the material in the Archives, or to donate historical materials, email Diane Everman, Archivist, at DEverman@JFedSTL.org.

The Archives has table of links to documents summarizing individual collections at BrodskyLibrary.org/Archives.php.
