Who We Are

The Center for Jewish Learning invites you to discover or deepen your dive into the richness of Jewish learning. If you would like to further your Jewish education, or begin it, you can do so at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis through our Adult Education Classes. We offer a wide selection of courses for adults with varied interests and backgrounds. We strive to support existing learning opportunities with the community and offer compelling pluralistic Jewish educational experiences. All are taught by experienced teachers who welcome and value every Jewish learner. Whether you’re a newcomer to adult Jewish study, a seasoned veteran or someone in-between, you are certain to find a course that suits your needs and your interests – and in which you feel “at home.”

What’s New?

We are back in our renovated and rededicated building at the Kaplan Feldman Complex (12 Millstone Campus Drive, 63146).

We cannot thank our community partners enough for hosting us for classes and speaker events this past year and look forward to continuing our partnership. While most of our courses will be held at the newly renovated Jewish Federation of St. Louis, we will continue to offer some courses in diverse locations to accommodate those in our community who live some distance away from our location, including MaTovu, a new community space in South City.

This year, the CJL will put out a Winter/Spring catalog, so check in again for new courses and speakers in January.

Important Information
  • Online registration is preferred. Please click here to view a list of classes and register!
  • All classes will be held at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, unless otherwise noted.
  • Some courses have a minimum and maximum enrollment, so please register early.
  • No prerequisites are required for any class, although if a class is labeled as Intermediate, that does mean you should have some some prior knowledge. If you need help deciding what class would be best for your level of experience and interest, please contact Rabbi Tracy Nathan at or 314-442-3757.
  • Scholarships are available, and it is an easy and discrete process. Contact Rabbi Tracy Nathan to learn more.
  • Credit card and checks accepted; checks are made payable to Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
  • For questions about the registration process or payment, contact Kathy Schmeltz at or 314-442-3761.

The decision to run a class is based on the number of students enrolled. You will be notified if a class is cancelled, and full refunds will be issues for classes cancelled by CJL. If you are planning to attend a class, please register so that we know there are enough students to run the class.
