The next film in the Sandra and Mendel Rosenberg Sunday Afternoon Film Series will be Karski & the Lords of Humanity, screening at 1:00 pm on July 30, 2017 in the Holocaust Museum’s theatre in the Jewish Federation of St. Louis Kopolow Building (12 Millstone Campus Drive). This powerful documentary, interspersed with graphic animation, tells of the story of Jan Karski, the Polish underground courier who traveled across occupied Europe to inform the Allied powers of Nazi war crimes against European Jewry. Karski carried his dreadful eye witness report to Britain and the United States, hoping to shake the conscience of the powerful leaders, or—as he would call them–the “Lords of Humanity.” This 2015 film, directed by Slawomir Grunberg, will screen in English, with a running time of 72 minutes.

Introductory remarks and a post screening discussion will be facilitated by Mr. Robert Ogrodnik, Honorary Consul Emeritus of the Republic of Poland in St. Louis from 2001 until the end of 2015, when he retired from his post.

Films in this Sunday series are free and open to the public, although reservations are required. Generous support for this screening was supplied by St. Louis Polonia Inc.
