Nusach Hari B’nai Zion, in partnership with the Holocaust Museum & Learning Center, will screen a special film, commemorating Tisha B’Av, the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm at NHBZ, 650 North Price Road, St. Louis, 63132. This date in the Hebrew calendar marks the destruction of both the first and second Temples in Jerusalem, and several other tragic events in Jewish history.
Pikuach Nefesh (Saving a Human Life), a documentary directed by Rabbi Dovid Bernstein and distributed by Torah Umesorah, presents the powerful and often overlooked stories of Rav Michoel Ber Weissmandl and Rav Shlomo Schonfeld. These two heroic rabbis, through great personal sacrifice, succeeded in saving thousands of Jews during the Shoah. Pikuach Nefesh, produced in 2011, is in English and has a running time of 55 minutes.
Rabbi Ze’ev Smason of Nusach Hari-B’nai Zion Congregation will lead a discussion following the screening.
