Mark Morgan Steps into Role to Help Individuals Struggling with Employment

MERS Goodwill announces Mark Morgan as the new Coordinator of its Jewish Community Employment Services, a MERS Goodwill program supported by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. Morgan has been employed by MERS Goodwill for nearly nine years as a job developer and case manager working out of the South County Office. The previous coordinator Johni Siegel is retiring.

“Job loss is such a devastating thing. Devastating to the family, the community, and the individual. I’m excited to step into this new role as we look to expand the program and excited to help individuals get that sense of identity back,” said Mark Morgan, Coordinator of Jewish Community Employment Services. “My passion for serving individuals in the community really makes each job connection a huge celebration for me.”

As the Coordinator of Jewish Community Employment Services, Morgan is responsible for recruiting individuals within the Jewish Community who are struggling to secure employment, helping individuals seek out employment and provide strategies to search and secure employment. Morgan networks with different agencies such as The Jewish Federation and Jewish and Family Services as well as rabbis at different synagogues to refer congregants. Additionally, he works with top employers around the area to build relationships with them to provide them qualified candidates for a wide variety of skilled positions available. Prior to working at MERS Goodwill, Morgan worked as a Youth Treatment Supervisor overseeing the education department at Denver Children’s Home for 13 years, then as a Mental Health Technician at Cherry Creek School in Colorado for eight years.

“Every individual who comes through our doors receives a confidential, tailored strategy to meet their employment needs as well as if they need access to other services such as vocational rehabilitation,” continued Morgan.

The Jewish Community Employment Services offers people who are unemployed or transitioning into a new career with career counseling, job development, job leads, resume and cover letter writing, job searching skills and interviewing strategies. The office is located at the MERS Goodwill Lippman Center at 2545 South Hanley Road, St. Louis, MO 63144.
