Join Song Leader Boot Camp and the Center for Jewish Learning for a free community event and a panel discussion featuring Rabbi Sharon Brous and Rabbi David Ingber on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 7:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center at the J. The discussion will address the topic of “Why Be Jewish? Praying with Our Hearts/ Praying with Our Feet.”

Rabbi Sharon Brous is the founding rabbi of IKAR, a thriving Jewish community that stands at the intersection of soulful, inventive spiritual and religious practice and a deep commitment to social justice. Brous has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading rabbis by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, and one of the 50 most influential American Jews by The Forward. In 2013, she topped The Daily Beast list, which credited her with reanimating Jewish community and reenergizing prayer at a time of growing disaffection and declining affiliation.

Rabbi David Ingber was named by Newsweek as one of 2013’s top 50 most influential rabbis in the United States, as well as by The Forward as one of the 50 most newsworthy and notable Jews in America. Rabbi David promotes a renewed Jewish mysticism that integrates meditative mindfulness and physical awareness into mainstream, post-modern Judaism. A major 21st century Jewish thinker and educator, his rich perspective, open heart and mind, and full-bodied approach to Jewish learning has brought him to speak throughout the United States and worldwide throughout Canada, Europe and Israel.
