Overview:
We are seeking a vibrant, warm and highly professional individual for the Director of Human Resources for the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. The director will review, develop and administer personnel policies, programs, and services. The director will work in partnership with the CEO and the management team to create a positive, transparent, and innovative organization, dedicated to serving the needs of the St. Louis Jewish Community.
Job Description: Human Resource Director
- Review all current HR Policies, processes and program.
- Ensure Federation is in compliance with relevant employee and labor laws.
- Gather, interpret, and prepare data for studies, reports and recommendations as necessary.
- Oversee the analysis, maintenance and communication of personnel records required by law.
- Prepare and revise job descriptions based upon periodic reviews of position.
- Evaluate the viability of offering HR services to member agencies and community organizations as needed.
- Develop a succession planning process, which assesses strengths and opportunities to enhance organizational core competencies and plans for the succession of key people and positions.
- Provide personnel services to approximately 50 staff members as needed.
- Advise management team on HR impact of organization programs and operations as appropriate.
- Administer employee safety, employee recognition, worker compensation and drug testing programs as necessary.
- Negotiate, coordinate, and manage professional service contracts.
- Work with Fiscal department to advise tech staff on creation of usable web-based platform for HR policies and employee benefits.
- Establish and implement an ongoing wellness program for all staff.
- Review and revise employee recognition programs as necessary.
- Evaluate possibility of creating an office manager position to maximize effectiveness of resource staff.
Skills needed for success:
- Graduation from an accredited graduate program with a master’s degree in personnel, human resources management, organizational development, labor relations or a closely related field and five years experience in human resource management (HR certification preferred) or any equivalent combination of education and experience. College degree is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with supervisors, employees, and the general public; ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, and the general public; ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive technical reports and data.
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws and personnel policy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously in a high results oriented culture.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly learn other software programs used in the performance of the duties of this position.
